The Ruffles - Gucci / Rosie Assoulin. The Monogram - Kurt Geiger
The Off The Shoulder - Chloe / Lisa Marie Fernandez. The Prairie Girl - Chloe / Chloe
The Reworked White Shirt - Johanna Ortiz / Tome. The Slip Dress - House of Harlow / Givenchy
The Backless Shoe - Marni / Alexander McQueen. The Pink - Zimmermann / YSL.

The first instalment of the 'Summer Edit' series began with The Swimwear List - the bases of any holiday wardrobe. Today's post is all about Investment Pieces; the summer trends you need in your life and the best pieces to buy.

The Ruffles - While many may approach ruffles wth caution, it should be viewed as a fun, feminine trend that can add character to any outfit. Take the Victoriana approach with Gucci's high neck, button down dress or channel your inner-salsa dancer with Rosie Assoulin's ruffle sleeves.

The Monogram - Seen on both the Burberry and Tony Burch runway, monograms and initials are an easy way to personalise your clothes. Use accessories like Kurt Geiger's initial key chain.

The Off The ShoulderTo give this trend proper justice, off-the-shoulder designs are no longer just a trend, they are a staple of SS16. Chose Lisa Marie Fernandez's ruffle dress for the daytime and Chloe's broderie anglaise top for the night.

The Prairie Girl - Inspired by the American TV series 'The Little House On The Prairie', this trend is all about delicate details, high necks, feminine colours and light, translucent materials. And who better to tackle this trend than the ultra-feminine Chloe. FYI, I dedicated a blog post to this trend so click here for a few high-street versions.

The Reworked White Shirt - The basic white shirt is no longer basic thanks to the designer makeover it's received this season. Incorporate the 70s influence with Tome's lace-up front shirt or Riveria chic with Johanna Ortiz's waist tie shirt dress. And the best news is, it's not exclusively for summer; you can layer it with jeans and jumpers for the colder months.

The Slip DressPreviously it was an exclusive staple of the cool girl's wardrobe, but the slip dress has now became available to the masses when it returned with the 90s trend. There's a choice between House of Harlow's lingerie-inspired lace trimming or Givenchy's effortlessly simple satin asymmetric cut.

The Backless Shoe - Seen on the Acne and Balenziaga's runway, these achingly cool mules are the most comfortable purchase of 2016. Make it work appropriate with Marni's tassel detail or add a rockstar edge with Alexander McQueen's studded pair.

The Pink - Pink is THE colour to wear this season with numerous shades popping up everywhere including coral, rose, crepe, salmon, blush, fuchsia and rouge. Take the delicate approach with Zimmermann's embroidered playsuit or make a real statement with YSL's magenta tote bag.
