AW21 Trend Report | Shine Bright

When you're not feeling yourself one great piece of advice we're given is to 'wear your favourite outfit, it'll be build your confidence right back up'. Colour has the same effect on us. If you've already read some AW21 trend reports you'll see the phrase 'colour therapy' talked about a lot when describing this trend. As it's absolutely spot on. By wearing a bright, positive colour that shines, it will help you radiate happiness and cheer up whoever may be looking at you.

We are desperately craving colour and attention seeking tones after spending over a year in black tracksuits and grey hoodies. So it was refreshing and exciting to see Off-White, Prada, Burberry, Christian Sirano and Versace filling their runways with a rainbow of colour. From saturated outerwear and tailoring to jewel tone dresses, it was the positivity we've all been craving. This drastic change in colour will help our mindsets snap out of the lockdown gloom and look to the new future.

For those of you who already love to dress boldly, this trend will be like second nature to you. You'll feel at home in Other Stories' orange puff shoulder midi dress and River Island's purple two piece suit. You'll also be very happy to invest in Staud's red PU shoulder bag, knowing you'll wear it with every outfit. I absolutely love your confidence and playfulness.

But for the other half like me who are a little more shy when it comes to wearing colour and feel much more comfortable in whites and neutrals, we can still participate in this trend, one piece at a time. The minimal silhouette of Topshop's slip dress balances out the brightness of the lime green and can be paired with simple black accessories while Nasty Gal's cobalt blue wrap jacket has a cool girl ease to it that tones downs the playfulness of the colour. Lastly, don't be afraid to add a splash of colour to your back-to-work wardrobe with Mango's tweed jacket. The traditional silhouette and fabric makes this timeless but the colour brings into the new season.

Whether you're a natural at wearing colour or leaving your comfort zone, this trend is all about reminding ourselves about the fun that can be had with fashion!

Here's how you can wear the trend now...
