Leather
is a versatile material as it can make an outfit whatever you want it to be;
masculine and tailored, feminine and powerful or oversized and confident.
First
seen on The Row, Hermes and Givenchy runway, the leather trend quickly became a
must-have for Spring Summer 2020. As demonstrated by the likes of @mariemikh,
@aninebing and @pernilleteisbaek, it can be an added layer on the colder days of
spring or a lighter option during the warmer times in summer.
Proving
its versatility, you can buy a light, neutral colour palette of ecrus, toffees
and creams and also take it back to its rock’n’roll origins with black oversized
trousers and button-up mini dresses.
My favourite piece? It has to be H&M’s belted jacket as it not
only ticks off the SS20 green trend, the soft fabric and olive tone is absolutely
scrumptious. And most excitedly, the high-street has treated us to a far more affordable,
yet just as coveted version of Bottega Veneta’s clutch with ASOS’ offering available in an array of colours.
For
the conscientious shopper, it is worth spending your money on this trend as it continued
to appear on the runway during Petar Petrov, Jil Sander and Rejina Pyo's AW20 shows,
confirming its longevity.
