The puff sleeve is undoubtedly one of my favourite trends for SS20, I love the absolute femininity of this design detail and it's easy to understand why it's become so popular. I can still remember when images from Cecilie Bahnsen's SS20 runway show flooded my Instagram feed last September. One image after another, they each displayed wistful, sweet ladylike silhouettes. Since then it has trickled down into the high-street and into our wardrobes.
I especially like the earthy tone midi dresses worn by Jessica and NYC X Clothes where the neutral colour juxtaposes the drama the cap sleeves. Masha's long sleeve mini dress is another favourite for an everyday option.
Rather than reminisce the extravagance of the 1980s, the oversized shoulders and sleeves have a much softer silhouette that highlights and exaggerates the shape of female form instead of creating a dominance like the former. I don't think this trend will be disappearing soon and will definitely be a key shape for AW20 too.
