SS20 Trend Report | Pastels

The next trend to feature in the report is the epitome of Spring and Summer - pastels. For 2020 this colour palette has a lighter, more sorbet feel then previously with sherbet yellow, ice blue, soft pink and mint green seen on runways and in presentations.

This trend covers a spectrum of clothing, accessories and footwear meaning everyone can buy a little bit of pastel. It seems only natural for these colours to be paired with romantic pieces. Nina Ricci and Cecilie Bahnsen's delicate and floaty dresses just wouldn't feel the same in any other colour. Pastels were also added to voluminous designs as Rotate by Birger Christensen and Alexandre Vauthier brought a bit of the 80s to the present with puff sleeves and prom style skirts.

Maggie Marilyn and influencer Sasha Mei demonstrate how you can easily live in this trend over the next few months with beautifully simple, feminine dresses. Contrastingly, Roland Mouret and Julie Pelipas, contributing fashion director of Ukrainian Vogue, both juxtapose masculine tailoring with soft colours, demonstrating that dressing 'girly' isn't your only option.
