Fashion and it's participants get a very bad (and judge-y) rep but it's not all "darling", reading magazines and sipping cocktails. Us Fashion Students have some very real and difficult problems. From missing clothes & missing bank accounts to constantly explaining what we do, our lives can be difficult but together we can get through it!
YOUR APPEARANCE IS JUDGED AUTOMATICALLY.
No matter how discrete you think you are you, we can still see you looking us up and down once you know what we're studying. And a shout out to the drunk boys who try to chat us up with "Yeah, you're good looking enough to study Fashion". Eww. No.
NO-ONE REALLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT YOU DO ON YOUR COURSE.
"So do you... like... spend all day shopping?"
LECTURES AREN'T LECTURES. THEY ARE FASHION PARADES.
You must always have a chic (un-creased) put-together outfit, a full face of make-up and not a hair out of place. No matter what time you went to bed the night before. (And never mention tracksuit bottoms. Or Uggs.)
THE IRONY OF STUDYING BRANDS AND TRENDS THAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD.
Our student budget can't quite stretch to Burberry or the constantly changing must-haves.
NO PROJECT IS COMPLETE WITHOUT A PRESENTATION.
Despite how many times we do them, no-one ever does a presentation without their notes and we still refuses to look everyone in the eye.
"So do you prefer the 1988 Dolce & Gabanna tea dress or the 1976 Channel tennis dress?"
YOU'RE EXPECTED TO KNOW THE BACK CATALOGUE OF EVERY FASHION BRAND. EVER.
"So do you prefer the 1988 Dolce & Gabanna tea dress or the 1976 Channel tennis dress?"
THE COMPULSORY UNPAID INTERNSHIPS YOU DO OVER CHRISTMAS & SUMMER.
We all have to do it. They'll be worth it (they tell us). (Which they are FYI).
VISITING TOPSHOP ETC. FOR A COMP-SHOP AND THE ONLY PRODUCTIVE THING YOU DO IS BUY MORE CLOTHES.
I don't know how anyone expects us to go into a store, study the product and not find something we want?! Good-bye 2.1. Hello packed wardrobe.
YOU UNPACK YOUR SUITCASE AFTER YOUR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY, ONLY TO REALISE YOUR SISTER HAS STOLEN 30% OF YOUR CLOTHES.
"I. Literally. Can't. Deal!"
WASTING A GREAT OUTFIT ON AN INSIGNIFICANT DAY.
This isn't limited to just Fashion Students. But the pain is still just as real (if not more).
I cried. This is a brilliant post and it does make me wish I studied fashion. I can def relate to the 'nobody understands what you do' to my own degree. But I guess I have the perk of not having to memorise all the back catalogues. Ace post though (ace gif usage too!)
