"And what's the lead time on this cashmere?"

Have you ever realised the inspiration and sourcing of the piece of clothing you’re wearing now started over a year ago? The whole process would have begun with this season's trend being forecasted and then being showcased at trade fairs to inform and inspire the designers and buyers. Through my university I was lucky enough to attend such an event this week in Florence. Pitti Immagine Filati is the world famous yarn trade show debuting forthcoming trends – this January showcasing Spring/Summer 2015.

The Old Fort was filled with rows and rows of suppliers displaying their products, their capabilities and how the finished product will look. Although the show was for fashion industry people, it was great environment to be and see the professionals at work. The most informative and interesting part for me was the “Play” area – visually displaying the future trends.

Here's the photos from the "Play" area - every trend has its own unique name. Interpret them as you like! Enjoy and good luck planning your S/S 2015 outfits! (Psst! Metallic is big!)

Doll

Lego

Playstation

Body

Soul

Mime

Shadow

Rock

Diva

Bizarre

Surreal

Which trend is your favourite?

  2. Very interested - how do they decide what's going to be in fashion in a year? Like, all the big designers sit down and decide that it's going to be a certain style/colour, or is it just one person and everyone else followers? It seems so weird!
